SUMMARY OF RESOLUTION OF THE STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL HELD ON MONDAY, 9TH DECEMBER, 2024

Highlights of the major decisions reached at the State Executive Council meeting held on Monday, 9th December, 2024, chaired by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar A. Namadi, FCA.

The Council has approved:

  1. The payment of Bursary Allowance in respect of newly interviewed students and returning students at the 72 Tertiary Institutions within Jigawa State and outside the state for the 2023/2024 Academic Session.
    • This amounts to the sum of Seven Hundred and Thirty-Six Million, Four Hundred and Twenty-Eight Thousand, One Hundred and Ninety-Three Naira (N736,428,193.00) only, for 30,096 beneficiaries, reflecting a 12% increase in scholarship support compared to 2023, which had a total of 26,835 beneficiaries, as presented by the Ministry of Higher Education.
  2. The commissioning of various Civil Engineering Consulting Firms for the supervision of the Construction, Rehabilitation, and Maintenance of 45 Roads across the state, covering 835.36KM.
    • This was earlier approved at a total consultancy fee of Four Billion, Seventy Million, One Hundred and Sixty-Six Thousand, Seven Hundred and Thirty-Seven Naira, Fifty-Seven Kobo (N4,070,166,737.57) only.
    • This is in line with the present administration’s commitment to ensuring citizens of the state enjoy highly effective and qualitative road infrastructure, as presented by the Ministry of Works and Transport.
  3. The submission of the amended Social Security Law No. 06, 2007 to the Jigawa State House of Assembly for:
    • The immediate enrollment of an additional 200 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) per LGA.
    • An upward review of the Social Security Allowance to N10,000 per beneficiary, as presented by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
  4. The award of a contract for the construction of 24 Solar-Powered Boreholes (15,000 Liters on 9m Tower) in communities across Dutse, Gwaram, Kafin Hausa, Sule Tankarkar, and Roni LGAs under the PEWASH State Project.
    • This project amounts to Three Hundred and Ninety-Eight Million, Two Hundred and Twenty-Eight Thousand, Nine Hundred and One Naira, Sixty-Nine Kobo (N398,228,901.69) only, aimed at revitalizing the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) program of the Federal Government of Nigeria, as presented by the Ministry of Water Resources.
  5. The sum of Four Hundred and Eighty-Two Million Naira (N482,000,000.00) only for the procurement of fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides for the Rice Millionaire’s Wheat Seed Production Program for the 2025/2026 wheat-growing season across the state, as presented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
  6. The procurement of 350 Motorcycles for Agricultural Extension Agents at the sum of Three Hundred and Eighty Million, Nine Hundred and Fifty-Three Thousand, One Hundred and Twenty-Five Naira (N380,953,125.00) only, to ease the provision of extension service delivery to rural farmers in the state.
  7. The completion of Principal Officers’ Quarters, Sabbatical Lodge, and Female Hostel at Sule Lamido University, Kafin Hausa, at the sum of Two Billion, Three Hundred and Ninety-Five Million, One Hundred and Twenty Thousand, One Hundred and Ninety-Seven Naira, Eighty-Five Kobo (N2,395,120,197.85) only.
  8. The submission of a Bill for the Establishment of Jigawa State Hisbah Board and other related matters to the Jigawa State House of Assembly.
