Highlights of the major decisions reached at the State Executive Council meeting held on Monday, 24th August 2026, equivalent to 11th Rabi Al-Awwal 1448 AH, chaired by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar A. Namadi, FCA.

1️⃣ STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL APPROVES LOW-KEY 35TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS, FUTURE ANNIVERSARY FRAMEWORK AND STATE MERIT AWARDS INITIATIVE
The Council has approved a series of key programme activities to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the creation of Jigawa State on 27th August 1991 during the administration of General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida.
Similarly, the Council has approved recommendations made by the committee chaired by His Excellency, Deputy Governor Engr. Aminu Usman, FNSE, for institutionalising future anniversary celebrations and the development of a framework for State Merit Awards and Honours.
As part of the series of activities approved, special prayers will be conducted in all Juma’at Mosques across the State, with the exercise to be coordinated through the Forum of Juma’at Mosque Imams, the Emirate Councils and the Council of Ulamas, under the direction of the Secretary to the State Government.
The anniversary activities will also provide an opportunity to honour and celebrate the founding fathers of Jigawa State, appreciate and recognise the contributions of past leaders, public servants, traditional institutions, development partners and other citizens who have contributed to the growth and development of the State since its creation.
The activities are intended to reflect on Jigawa State’s journey over the past 35 years, celebrate its achievements, acknowledge the contributions of those who have played significant roles in its development, and inspire renewed commitment towards building a more prosperous and united State.

2️⃣ STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL APPROVES ₦517.596 MILLION FOR RENOVATION AND CONSTRUCTION OF INFRASTRUCTURE AT IEB SCHOOLS ACROSS THE STATE
In line with the 12-Point Agenda of His Excellency, Malam Umar A. Namadi, FCA, which places strong emphasis on strengthening education and investing in the human capital of Jigawa State, the Council has approved the award of contracts valued at Five Hundred and Seventeen Million, Five Hundred and Ninety-Six Thousand, Four Hundred and Fifteen Naira, Seventy-Six Kobo (₦517,596,415.76) only for the renovation and construction of educational infrastructure at various Integrated Education Board (IEB) schools across the State.
The approved projects cover:
✅ Renovation of SS1 and SS2 Blocks at GDASS Dabi;
✅ Construction of a perimeter wall fence and gate at GDASS Limawa;
✅ Construction of an Administration Block at GDASS Aujara and SAIS Fatara;
✅ Renovation works at GDASS Kiri;
✅ Construction of perimeter wall fences and gates at GDASS Gidan Sarki Kazaure and GDASS B/Kudu; and
✅ Construction of five blocks of two-classroom facilities at selected Islamiya and Tahfizul Qur’an schools across the State.
The five locations are:
- Rauda Yanganau Islamiya, Yankwashi Local Government Area;
- Madarasatul Ulumul Qur’an Takur Site, Dutse Local Government Area;
- Darul Arqam School Tahfizul Qur’an, Malam Madori Local Government Area;
- Jidama Islamiya School, Dutse Local Government Area; and
- Tahfizul Qur’an Limawa, Gumel.
The projects are expected to address critical infrastructure needs in the benefiting schools, improve the physical learning environment and enhance access to quality educational facilities for students.

3️⃣ STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL APPROVES ₦12.68 BILLION FOR CONSTRUCTION, SUPPLY AND RENOVATION OF OVER 50 SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS ACROSS THE STATE
The Council has approved the award of contracts valued at Twelve Billion, Six Hundred and Eighty-One Million, One Hundred and Thirty-Nine Thousand, Six Hundred and Forty-Five Naira, Sixty-Eight Kobo (₦12,681,139,645.68) only for the construction, supply and general renovation of selected Senior Secondary Schools across Jigawa State to 26 successful contractors.
The approval covers major infrastructure interventions in over 50 Senior Secondary Schools across the State, representing a significant investment by the administration in improving the quality, accessibility and standard of educational infrastructure for students and teachers.
The intervention is aimed at addressing critical infrastructure gaps in senior secondary schools, improving teaching and learning conditions, reducing pressure on existing facilities and ensuring that students across the State have access to better educational environments.
The investment is firmly anchored on the 12-Point Agenda of His Excellency, Malam Umar A. Namadi, FCA, which places strong emphasis on strengthening education, developing human capital and creating the necessary conditions for sustainable socio-economic development of the State.

4️⃣ STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL RATIFIES PURCHASE OF 18,000 BAGS OF NPK FERTILISER UNDER RENEWED HOPE FARMERS INITIATIVE
The Council has approved the ratification of the purchase of 18,000 bags, equivalent to 30 trucks, of NPK 20:10:10 fertiliser by the Jigawa State Government under the Renewed Hope Farmers Initiative, at a total cost of Six Hundred and Fifteen Million, Six Hundred Thousand Naira (₦615,600,000.00) only.
The fertiliser is intended for distribution to women, youth and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) engaged in farming across Jigawa State through the National Women in Agricultural Business Cooperative Society Limited, as part of the State Government’s efforts to promote inclusive agricultural development and strengthen support for vulnerable and priority groups in the agricultural sector.
The distribution will particularly support women and youth farmers, as well as Persons with Disabilities, who play an important role in agricultural production but may face challenges in accessing critical farm inputs.
The intervention is also in line with the broader objectives of the Renewed Hope Farmers Initiative, which seeks to support farmers with critical agricultural inputs and create opportunities for increased agricultural production and improved livelihoods.
The intervention further demonstrates the commitment of His Excellency, Malam Umar A. Namadi, FCA, to promoting agricultural development, empowering vulnerable groups and strengthening the livelihoods of citizens through targeted government support.

5️⃣ STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL APPROVES MoU BETWEEN STATE MINISTRY OF HEALTH, NPHCDA AND DEVELOPMENT PARTNERS TO STRENGTHEN VACCINE AND PHC COMMODITY DISTRIBUTION
The Council has approved the proposal for the Jigawa State Ministry of Health to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), in collaboration with UNICEF, GAVI and other development partners, under the Direct Delivery of Routine Immunisation Vaccine and Other Primary Health Care Commodities for Equity (DRIVE) Initiative.
The initiative is designed to strengthen the direct delivery and distribution of routine immunisation vaccines and other essential Primary Health Care commodities to health facilities and communities across Jigawa State.
The partnership with UNICEF, GAVI and other development partners will further enhance technical cooperation and coordination in strengthening the State’s Primary Health Care system, while ensuring that available resources are utilised efficiently and equitably.
The Council has consequently approved the signing of the MoU and directed the relevant authorities to ensure that its implementation is carried out in accordance with the agreed terms and conditions and in the best interest of the people of Jigawa State.
The approval of the DRIVE Initiative partnership is therefore a significant step towards building a more responsive, equitable and efficient Primary Health Care commodity distribution system in Jigawa State.
