The Wife of the Executive Governor of Jigawa State, Hajiya Hasina Mohammed Badaru Abubakar has flagged off the distribution of empowerment materials under the Jigawa State Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus J-CARES programme.
While speaking at the event, Hajiya Hasina said the programme is aimed at helping vulnerable people who were severely hurt during the Covid-19 pandemic to recover.
According to her, about 1,350 women will be empowered with two goats and one he goat, while 300 women will benefit from 20 Noiler chicken.
โAdditionally, about 465 women will also benefit from rabbit farming, while 2,500 petty traders will benefit from cash to support their businesses.โ Hajiya Hasina added.
While speaking, the Commissioner of Agriculture, Alhaji Auwal D. Sankara said the State Government is also supporting another batch of 640 women in 12 Local Government Areas with 1,920 goats in 40 wards.
He added that the idea behind supporting women with goats is that, goats are easy to rear and within short period of time they will multiply to become a herd. Similarly, the Special Advisor to the Governor on Economic Empowerment, Sheikh Mujaddadi called on the beneficiaries to utilize the empowerment materials judiciously.
