Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has expressed dismay over the failure of some Federal institutions to strictly adhere to the provisions of the Polytechnic Act as amended in 2019 that harmonized retirement age.
This was contained in its communiqué issued at the end of its 3rd Quarter Zonal Executive Council Meeting held at Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic Sokoto
The communiqué signed by zone A Zonal Publicity Secretary Comrade Basiru Yusuf urged Government to impose strict adherence to the provisions of the Polytechnic Act.
It frowns at the Condition of Services of member institutions in Kaduna, Katsina and Zamfara States owned institutions where members are still paid with an obsolete CONTISS Salary Scheme structure and urged them to implement the CONPCASS Salary Structure Scheme to meet the national standard.
The communiqué expressed concerned that the Federal Government is yet to fulfill its part of the agreement with ASUP for the suspended strike by the Union and urged the Government to address the Union’s demands and release the 15 billion naira revitalization fund and minimum wage arrears with immediate effect.
