Highlights of the major decisions reached at the State Executive Council meeting held on Monday 23RD June, 2025 chaired by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Jigawa State Malam Umar A. Namadi FCA.

🚰 1. Water Supply and Sanitation

βœ… Construction of Solar Powered Water Schemes

  • Scope: 19 complete solar-powered water supply schemes across the state

  • Amount Approved: ₦292,637,128.88

  • Objective: To improve access to clean, portable drinking water and promote environmental sustainability using renewable energy


🏒 2. Ministry Renaming

βœ… Renaming of Ministry of Special Duties

  • New Name: Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Special Duties

  • Reason:

    • To broaden the mandate of the ministry

    • Improve its capacity to handle humanitarian challenges like flooding

    • Align with Federal and International standards

  • Presented by: Secretary to the State Government (SSG)

  • Benefit: Enhance coordination and access to humanitarian aid and support for vulnerable communities


πŸ’Έ 3. Compensation and Social Justice

βœ… Compensation for Land at SAIS, Fatara Dutse

  • Amount Approved: ₦265,533,440.00

  • Purpose: Compensation to individuals and communities affected by the establishment of the School for Arabic and Islamic Studies

  • Objective: Demonstrates government’s commitment to justice, accountability, and citizen welfare

βœ… Construction of 560 Mass Housing Units (Phase II)

  • Scope:

    • 3-Bedroom Detached and 2-Bedroom Semi-Detached units

    • Fenced housing estates across Babura, Birnin Kudu, Dutse, Gumel, Hadejia, Kafin Hausa, Kazaure, Maigatari, and Ringim

  • Amount Approved: ₦19,632,536,424.30

  • Objective:

    • Improve housing access and living conditions

    • Stimulate construction-related employment

    • Foster inclusive and resilient urban development

βœ… Feasibility Study for 100MW Solar Power Project

  • Scope:

    • Technical Feasibility Study (TFS)

    • Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)

  • Amount Approved: ₦898,285,096.78

    • Compliance with environmental standards

    • Harness solar potential for economic growth, rural development, and environmental protection

βœ… Conversion of Conventional Streetlights to Solar

  • Scope: Integrated Stand-alone Solar Streetlights in 11 Urban Centers:

    • Auyo, Gumel, Gagarawa, Hadejia, Kafin Hausa, Kazaure, Kiyawa, Ringim, Roni, Taura

  • Amount Approved: ₦14,697,567,295.24

  • Objective:

    • Modernize public lighting with energy-efficient solar systems

    • Reduce energy costs

    • Improve safety and environmental impact

    • Stimulate local economy and job creation
