Jigawa Constructs 650, Rehabilitates 960 Solar, Motorized Water Schemes in 2022.

The State Government has constructed over 650 new solar powered, rehabilitated and upgraded 960 existing solar and motorized water schemes.

Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar made this known while presenting the 2023 appropriation bill to the state House of Assembly.

He said 4,100 new hand pumps were drilled while about 7,700 were rehabilitated during the period under review.

He added that 250 motorized water schemes were converted to solar-powered in the first six years of his administration.

On sanitation, the Governor said over 3,700 blocks of VIP Latrines consisting of over 14,800 toilets in schools, communities and other public places were constructed.

He said the government would send a bill to the House of Assembly that would declare the first Saturday of every Month as โ€œSanitation and Hygiene Promotion Dayโ€.

Governor Badaru said 16 new General Hospitals were constructed, in addition to upgrading of 35 Basic Health Centers, as well as foreign medical training for many State indigenes.

According to him, 120 new Senior Secondary Schools, including the three New Mega Schools at Hadejia, Dutse and Kazaure were established.
