JGSG Constructs, hands over Two Solar Powered Watering Facilities to Zinder to Curtail Farmers/Pastoralists Conflict.

Jigawa State Government has constructed and handed over two solar powered watering points, at two grazing reserves bordering the State and Zinder in Niger Republic. The facilities were constructed at Bode and Aramari, with a view to bringing an end to the persistent clashes between farmers and pastoralists in the two neigbouring states and countries.

Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar took it to himself to provide the facilities after a testimony by the leadership of two Associations, during Jigawa- Zinder regional integration presentations pioneered by the two States.

The pastoralists and farmers leadership testify that, herders leave the two bordering grazing reserves to other parts of Zinder Region and Jigawa State in search of water before crops are due for harvest. As they pass by, they scavenge around farmersโ€™ fields which mostly trigger conflict which leads to human, animals and crops losses.

Governor of Zinder Region, Me Loauali Amadou Madougou expressed appreciation for fulfilling the promises and resolutions agreed to be executed by Jigawa State Government, that were clearly spelt out in the communiquรฉ of  Jigawa – Zinder Economic Bilateral Relations.

Governor Badaru and Governor of Zinder were represented at the handing over ceremony, which was well attended by members of the Parliament, Security Agencies, Traditional Rulers, farmers and herdsmen.
