The State Executive Council (SEC) convened its meeting on Monday, 17th March 2025, under the chairmanship of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar A. Namadi, FCA. The following key decisions were made:
1. Approval for the Take-Off of the Jigawa Farm Mechanization Service Company
In line with the Jigawa State Government’s agricultural transformation initiative, the Council approved the sum of One Billion, Five Hundred and Twenty-Three Million, Five Hundred and Eight Thousand, Fourteen Naira, Eight Kobo (₦1,523,508,014.08) only.
This fund is designated for the take-off of the newly established Jigawa Farm Mechanization Service Company, which will commence operations to increase efficiency and cost-effectiveness across the agricultural value chains in the state.
2. Payment of Custom Duties and Taxes for Agricultural Mechanization Equipment
In relation to the take-off of the Farm Mechanization Service Company, the Council approved an additional sum of Nine Hundred and Sixty-Nine Million, Eighty-Four Thousand, Seven Hundred and Seventy-Two Naira, Ten Kobo (₦969,084,772.10) only.
This amount is allocated for the payment of custom duties and government taxes on agricultural mechanization equipment and spare parts purchased from China.
3. Deliberation and Approval of Draft Bill for the Establishment of Jigawa State Flood Disaster Trust Fund
Aligned with His Excellency Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi, FCA’s administration commitment to tackling flood problems in Jigawa State through effective, long-term solutions, the Council deliberated on a draft Bill for the Establishment of the Jigawa State Flood Disaster Trust Fund.
Following the deliberation, the Council approved the draft Bill and directed that it be forwarded to the State House of Assembly for consideration.
