Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar has flagged off the distribution of the remaining 2018 Federal Government palliative to over 30,000 selected farmers who were affected by the 2020 flooding in the 20 LGAs across the State held at Malam Madori Local Government Area.
The items distributed include seeds rice, sesame, sorghums, liquid fertilizers, sprayers and other agro chemicals.
Represented by the Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Muhammad Alhassan, the Governor sympathized with the victims over the incident and enjoined youths in the State to embrace agriculture which he described as the main source of the Nigerian economy before the discovery of oil.
He noted that the, importance attached to Agricultural sector by the Federal and State Government has led the Jigawa State to be the leading State in Agricultural production.
In his speech, the Executive Secretary, Sate Emergency Management Agency, Alhaji Yusuf Sani Babura, disclosed that, more than 30,000 affected farmers selected in the 20 LGAs have benefited in the distribution exercise disclosing further that 35,000 farmers were selected in Malam Madori LGA.
He said the exercise will cover the remaining 19 LGAs.
The Executive Secretary also said the State Government has distributed various relief materials to the victims of flooding across the State to reduce their suffering.
On their part, the Chairman Malam Madori LG Council, Alhaji Usaini Birnin Kudu who was represented by the Speaker of the Council, Sale Muhammad commended the Federal Government under the leadership of President Muhammad Buhari and Jigawa State Government under the leadership of Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar for the gesture.
On their part the beneficiaries expressed their happiness for the items distributed and assured that they will make good use of the items.
