Government to Procure 1 Billion Naira Worth of Drugs in the State

The state Ministry of Health is to procure drugs worth One Billion Naira under its Sustainable Drugs Supply System to ensure availability and access to quality and affordable drugs to the people.
The Commissioner of the ministry, Dr. Abba Zakari Umar, stated this in a message to the flag off of Jigawa Medical Supply Organization’s, 2018 bid opening for the procurement of drugs and medical consumables through the Director Administration and Finance of the ministry Alhaji Ibrahim Dabo Roni, he explained that, the Drug Revolving Fund provides the people with quality drugs at affordable prices while at the same time enhancing the implementation of the free Maternal and Child Health Services Program in the state.
He said the one billion Naira earmarked this year was well beyond the amount spent the previous year which is a clear indication of the present administration’s commitment to meet the people’s health demand, assuring the contractors that, their bids will meet the ministry’s fairness and transparent evaluation.
In his remarks, the Director Pharmaceutical service of the ministry, Pharmacist Rabi’u Yakubu, said the contract was advertised in national Newspapers in accordance with the provision of Due Process and that fifty companies indicated interest to participate in the bidding exercise while on his part, the General Manager JIMSO, Pharmacist Aminu Alhassan, noted that when procured, the drugs and medical consumables would further strengthen supply in health facilities across the state.
Some representatives of the participating companies expressed satisfaction with the bidding process while describing Jigawa state procurement system as the best in the country which encourages companies from as far as Lagos and Port Harcourt to bid for the contracts without any fear.
