Jigawa State Government has pledged to pay whatever is agreed upon as minimum wage by the Federal Government.
Governor Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar gave the assurance when he received the leadership of the state chapter of the Nigeria labour congress who paid him a solidarity visit adding that the state government was fully committed to improving the welfare of civil servant for effective service delivery.
He said his administration is aware of the important role of civil servants in the implementation of policies and programmes of the Government, hence the need to improve the purchasing power of civil servants.
Speaking earlier the state chairman of the Nigeria labour Congress Comrade Usman Ya’u Dutse said they were at the government house to thank the governor for his position on the new minimum wage and appealed to the governor to discuss with his colleagues on the need to implement the new salary structure for the wellbeing of workers.
