NPA Donates 40 Beds, Mattresses, Others to Jigawa Psychiatric Hospital

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has donated 40 sets of beds, mattresses, blankets, bed sheets and pillows to Jigawa State Psychiatric Hospital, Kazaure.

The Officer in charge of the facility, Dr Abdulkadir Yakubu, who disclosed this, added that the gesture would complement government’s efforts at improving the welfare of the patients.

“People have the potential of donation to the hospital, but sometimes lack of accountability and transparency is what is discouraging some people from donating. We will do our best in utilising the donated items,” he said.

Dr Abdulkadir Yakubu said that the hospital was currently undergoing some renovations to make it more habitable for the patients and urged wealthy individuals and organizations to emulate the gesture.

In a related development, the Ports Authority also in collaboration with Senator Abdullahi Ojo distributed 70 irrigation water pumping machines to youths in the Jigawa North West senatorial zone.

The manager program of the NPA Alhaji Musa Abubakar who distributed the machines said the gesture was part of efforts to compliment the federal government policy of empowering the youth and enjoined the beneficiaries to make good use of the items to empower themselves.

In appreciating the gesture, the special assistant to the state Governor on civil coordination Alhaji Alasan Ya’u said the machines will further complement the state government’s policy of back to farm and while through a Director at the National Assembly Commission, Alhaji Amadu Abubakar, the Senator reaffirmed his determination to empower the youth in his constituency.
