The state Ministry of Lands, Housing, Urban Development and Regional Planning has solicited the continued support and cooperation of Gumel Emirate Council towards the successful establishment of the proposed Sugar company by Lee Group of Companies in Gagarawa local Government area.
The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Alhaji Murtala Muhammad Kwalam made the plea when he led officials of Lee Group and Jigawa Investment Promotion Council on advocacy visit to the emir’s palace in Gumel during which he informed him that the company is relocate some Fulani settlements in the area in preparation for the establishment of the company
In his remarks, the Director Agric- Services of the Lee Group, Dr Umar Majia, said the company is extending the plantation from thirty to one hundred and twenty hectares while an assessment team is working on how to resettle the affected Fulani community.
In his response, the Emir of Gumel represented by the Galadiman Gumel, Alhaji Sabo Muhammad reaffirmed his commitment to work with any organization wishing to bring development to the area and directed the District Head of Gagarawa, village and ward heads to continue to sensitize their subjects on the importance of the project.
