Eight Governors were recently awarded the NTA Integrity, National Service Award 2017.
The awards were presented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, at the end of Presidential High Table Dialogue organized by the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom got the award of the best performing Governor in the area of Educational empowerment, good road network and payment of workersโ salary, that of Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, received the award of excellence as the best performing Governor in the area of war against drug abuse, good governance and the review of the Kano State Master plan while Governors Rochas Okorocha of Imo, MuhammadAbubakar Badaru of Jigawa, Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi state, Senator Jibrilla Bindow of Adamawa and Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi were all awarded as the best performing Governors in Agriculture and rural infrastructure in their respective states.
However, Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau received the award of the best performing Governor of the year 2017, especially in the area of peace and security. He was reported to have established an agency in charge of peace and reconciliation to consolidate on the peace building effort of the government.
The Governors in their goodwill messages thanked the management and staff of NTA for appreciating the developmental efforts carried out by them in their various states and that the awards will serve as a morale booster not only to them as serving Governors but also to their successors to do more for their states.
Also at the occasion, the NTA conferred on the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission [EFCC], Ibrahim Magu, with an integrity award.
The award of excellence was given in recognition of his contributions in the fight against corruption.
The programme which was tagged โIntegrity and Service Programmeโ was organized to recognize public servants who have served the nation selflessly with integrity in their various callings.
Other recipients of the award include, prominent Nigerians and agencies of government such as the Nigeria Custom Service [NCS]; Nigerian Air Force [NAF]; Federal Inland Revenue Service [FIRS] and Globacom Telecommunications Company.
