SUMMARY OF RESOLUTIONS OF THE STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL

HELD ON MONDAY, 24TH FEBRUARY 2025

The following are the key decisions reached at the State Executive Council meeting held on Monday, 24th February 2025, under the chairmanship of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar A. Namadi, FCA.


1. Approval of Compensation for Township Road Construction

In line with the Jigawa State Government’s commitment to road infrastructure development, the Council has approved the sum of One Billion, Five Hundred and Ten Million, One Hundred and Sixteen Thousand, One Hundred and Eighty Naira (₦1,510,316,180.00) for compensation payments to beneficiaries affected by township road construction projects across the State.

The compensation will cover towns in the following areas:

  • Fagam
  • Kila-Jugwa-Sakuwa-Gwaram
  • Sankara-Ringim
  • Bulangu-K/Hausa
  • Gandun Sarki-Hadejia
  • Dansure-Roni
  • Aujara-Jahun
  • Dutse Local Government Areas (LGAs)

This approval was presented by the Ministry of Land, Housing, Urban Development, and Regional Planning.


2. Approval of Funds for 2025 Dry Season Rice Farming Programme

As part of the administration’s efforts to enhance Jigawa State’s competitive advantage in rice farming, the Council has approved the sum of Eight Billion, Two Hundred and Sixty-Eight Million, Two Hundred and Twenty-Five Thousand Naira (₦8,268,225,000.00) as a 30% advance down-payment for input costs under the 2025 Dry Season Rice Programme.

This initiative aims to:

  • Boost food security and improve livelihoods across the state.
  • Support 58,500 farmers through loans to cultivate 50,000 hectares of rice in 1,000 clusters across key rice-producing areas.
  • Ensure that loan repayment is made after the harvest period.

This was presented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources.


3. Extension of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) France

The Council has approved a two-year extension of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Jigawa State Government’s Ministry of Health and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) France, an international private humanitarian organization.

The agreement aims to:

  • Strengthen efforts to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality rates in the State.
  • Enhance obstetric care services at the following healthcare facilities:
    • Jahun General Hospital
    • Aujara Primary Healthcare Center
    • Miga Primary Healthcare Center

This approval was presented by the Honorable Commissioner, Ministry of Health.
