RESOLUTION OF THE JIGAWA STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL HELD ON MONDAY 26TH AUGUST, 2024

Highlights of the major decisions taken at the State Executive Council meeting held yesterday Monday 26th August, 2024 chaired by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Jigawa State Malam Umar A. Namadi FCA.

The Council has approved:

The release of the sum of One Billion, Sixty-Two Million, Four Hundred and Thirty-One Thousand, One Hundred and Sixty-Two Naira (N1,062,431,160.00) only to SEMA to undertake the immediate procurement of relief materials and intervention to 14,148 IPDs situated in 53 different Camps across the State. Similarly, the Council has assigned Honorable Commissioners, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants and all other political appointees residing in the affected LGAs to oversee the distribution of the relieve materials to ensure accountability and sanity. The
underlisted Honorable Commissioners are to serve as Chair in the affected LGAs:
I. Auyo – Honorable Commissioner of Finance
II. Buji – Honorable Commissioner of Budget and Planning
III. Dutse – Honorable Commissioner of High and Basic Education IV. Garki – Honorable Commissioner of Power and Renewal Energy
V. Gwaram – Honorable Commissioner of Commerce
VI. Jahun – Honorable Commissioner of Works and Transport
VII. Kiyawa – Chief of Staff and Commissioner for Local Government
VIII. Kirikasamma – Honorable Commissioner of Information
IX. Malam Madori –Honorable Commissioner of Women Affairs
X. Miga – Honorable Commissioner of Agriculture

The Council has also assigned the Honorable Commissioner for Special Duties Auwal D. Sankara in collaboration with SEMA to ensure effective coordination and monitoring of the exercise statewide.

. The upward review of institutional feeding programme at secondary health facilities in the state from N280 to N420 per meal to all patients on admission in the State hospitals that is 50% increase to cover a period of August – December, 2024. The Institutional Feeding Policy was last reviewed in 2021 which provides Three (3) meals per day to all admitted patients in the fifteen (15) general hospitals in the State.

The formation of a Fact-Finding Committee on the recent Violent Protect in Jigawa State (1st August, 2024). The committee has the following composition:

V. Honorable Commissioner of Finance – Member

VIII. Special Adviser Chieftaincy Affairs -– Member
IX. Deputy Director State DSS – Member
X. Deputy Commissioner of Police Operation – Member XI. Deputy Commandant NSCDC – Member
XII. 26 Bridge Garrison Commander – Member
XIII. APC State Secretary – Member
XIV. Representative of Civil Society Organization – Member
XV. Representative of Ulamas – Member
XVI. Representative of Imams – Member
XVII. Permanent Secretary Special Services – Secretary

The committee’s Terms of Reference are:
a) To ascertain the roots causes of the protest in the State
b) To ascertain the role of individuals involved in the protest
c) To ascertain the extend of damaged across the state during the protest
d) To ascertain the properties and items recovered so far in the affected areas
e) To ascertain the level of participation of underage and vulnerable during the protest
