RESOLUTION OF THE JIGAWA STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL HELD ON THURSDAY 15TH AUGUST, 2024

Highlights of the major decisions taken at the State Executive Council meeting held today Thursday 15th August, 2024 as chaired by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Jigawa State Malam Umar A. Namadi FCA.

The Council has approved:

The State Executive Council sympathized with the people of Jigawa State over the recent flood incident in some parts of the State.Jigawa state experienced flash flooding due high velocity of rain fall in some Local Government Areas. The areas affected are: Auyo, Buji, Birnin Kudu, Guri, Gwaram, Hadejia, Kafin Hausa, Kirikasamma, Ringim, and Taura LGAs. The government took all necessary measures to curtailed the situation by providing adequate working materials and embarked on actions to minimize the flood effect through pumping out storm water with hydro pump equipment in the effected settlement to reduce the risk.

Similarly, supported communal effort of sands bagging at critical places to addressed the devastating effect of flood that submerged houses and farmland in the communities. Already, the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has made effort to support the flood victims by providing adequate emergency relief items as part of rapid response mechanism by the government to provide immediate support to various communities.

The SEMA also move the flood victims to a safer place with all needed support such as food and nonfood items as well as full medical attention and portable drinking water.

In line with the Jigawa State Government effort to address current economic hardships by subsidizing foods items and fertilizer to the poor, vulnerable and local farmers, the Council approved the distribution of various commodities across the newly established palliative shops in the 27 LGAs. The Council has also suspended the distribution of the palliative shops’ commodities in 7 LGAs (namely, Babura, Birnin Kudu, Gumel, Hadejia, Kazaure, Kirikasamma and Kiyawa) where government stores were vandalized during the protest incidents in some part of the state particularly at stores owned by JASCO, JARDA & SEMA respectively until further notice.

Similarly, the Executive Council approved the closure of JASCO and JARDA stores in the above LGAs until when Government is satisfied with the safety of items to be delivered in the affected areas. Moreover, the Council has approved the temporary closure of the vandalized State Skills Acquisition Centers in Babura and Birnin Kudu.

The sum of sum of Three Billion Eight Hundred and Thirty Million Five Hundred and Sixty Thousand Naira (N3,830,560.000.00) only for the payment of Tuition Fees, Administrative Charge and Value Added Tax (VAT), Accommodation, Security Deposit, Living Allowance, Resident Permit and Health Insurance in respect of 185no. Jigawa Sate Students studying at Near East University, Cyprus for 2024/2025 Academic Session.

The release of Three Billion, Four and Twenty-Two Million, Two Hundred and Thirty-Nine Thousand, Eight Hundred and Twenty-Six Naira and Thirty-Two Kobo (N3,422,239,826.32) only for payment of Jigawa State 1,331 Civil Servants retirement benefits and death gratuities through the Jigawa (State and Local Governments) Contributory Pension Scheme.

The Ministry of Land to commence the process of revocation of plots/lands belonging to individuals and organizations that failed to effect development on the plots/lands allocated to them by Jigawa State Government, contrary to all the Terms and Conditions of the allocation

grants.

The elimination of Right of Way (RoW) charges to all Telecommunication companies for the deployment of Telecommunication Infrastructure in Jigawa State. The Council decision is in line with present administration commitment to increase broadband penetration across the hinterlands of the State as contained in the present administration 12-Points agenda.
