Five hospitals in Gumel Local Government Area were selected to benefit from Federal Government’s free health care services to pregnant women and children under the age of five years, aged persons, disabled and the less privileged.
The Manager, Primary Health care Development Agency of the area Kabiru Ahmed made this known when he paid a courtesy call on the Chairman of the area Alhaji Ahmed Rufai Sanusi and District Head of Gumel Kudiu the Magajin Garin Gumel Alh Shehu Lawan Ibrahim. He therefore solicited for close cooperation from the LGA officials and traditional rulers to achieve the set target.
Contributing, the Assistant Director State Contributory Health Care Scheme, Dr. Abubakar Jamilu said they were in the area to train chairmen and secretary of the ward development committees of the participating hospitals of the programme scheduled to commence on soon. He added that Federal Government is disbursing funds directly to the participating hospitals for the purchase of drugs.
In their different responses, the representative of the LGA chairman who is also the Vice Chairman Alh Haladu Musa Mele and the District Head of Gumel Alh Shehu Lawan Ibrahim thanked the Federal Government for timely intervention on the Healthcare of the vulnerable and assured for cooperation on government laudable programmes.
