Biography
My name is Sagir Musa Ahmed, currently serving as the Honorable Commissioner for the Ministry of Information, Youths, Sports and Culture in Jigawa State. From 2020 to 2023, I held the position of Honorable Commissioner Ministry of Land and Housing and Ialso held the position of Director at the Information Resource Center, US Embassy Abuja, Nigeria, as a Foreign Service National (FSN) under the U.S Department of States from 2016 to 2020.
In my professional journey, I have contributed to various roles within the Nigerian Government, including significant service at the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), Presidency Nigeria, between 2012 and 2016. Prior to that, I served at the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) from 2008 to 2012, holding the position of Agency Librarian/Document Controller, among several other appointments.
For my educational background, I earned a Masters in Information Systems Management from the University of Salford Manchester, United Kingdom, in 2015. My First Degree, obtained in 2005, is in Library and Information Science/Political Science from Bayero University Kano, and I also completed a Diploma in Library and Information Science at Bayero University Kano from 1998 to 2000.
In terms of professional affiliations, I am a member of the Nigerian Library Association (NLA), American Library Association (ALA), and the Chartered Institute of Library & Information Professionals (CILIP). Additionally, I serve as the Chairman of the Nigerian Library Association Jigawa State Chapter and am the Founder of the Jigawa Young Professionals Forum (JYPF).
I am proud to be an alumnus of the US Government Exchange Program, particularly the renowned International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) – American Libraries 2014.
Outside of my professional life, I engage in hobbies such as reading, research, watching documentaries, and volunteering. On a personal note, I am happily married and blessed with five children.
