Jigawa State Government is spending over three point two billion naira on recurrent expenditure monthly with the Federal allocation of three point five to four point five billion naira.
Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar made this known during an interactive session with Permanent Secretaries, Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies, Directors, Deputy Directors and Assistant Directors held at Sir Ahmadu Bello Hall.
Alhaji Muhammad Badaru stated that two point one billion is been paid monthly as workers salary, two hundred and fifty million naira for boarding schools feeding and seventy million naira for Primary Schools feeding.
According to the Governor seventy five million naira is for Primary Health Care Services, three hundred million naira for the payment of Scholarship, NECO and WEAC, one hundred million naira for water supply and seventy five million naira as over head cost to MDAs.
Meanwhile, the Governor also disclosed that Jigawa State has assumed number one in the provision of portable water to its citizens in the 19 Northern States and second State in Nigeria while 10 Local Government Areas have been declared Open Defecation Free (ODF).

He said the State is also working hard to add additional Local Government Areas in ODF.
The Governor urged Civil Servants in the State to be more innovative and creative while discharging their duties.
He said the role of Civil Servants in every Government cannot be over emphasized hence the need for them to be more productive in order to move the State forward.
He also noted that the nation is at a trying time when its economy has suffered from not only dwindling oil price, but also was hit by the global pandemic which did not spare bigger economies as well.
He however, noted that despite all the challenges with the help of an innovative Civil Servant the State would harness its potential to create a sustainable growth.
He appreciated the contributions of civil servants and urged them to continue supporting the present administration efforts to meet the yearning and aspiration of the common man.
Earlier, the State Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Hussaini Ali Kila disclosed that, while some States have already reversed to the old N18,000 minimum wage and others are yet to implement the N30,000 new national minimum wage to their Civil Servants, Jigawa State has no backlog of salary and gratuity and is not indebted by pensioners.
He said Jigawa State Civil Servants are ever grateful to the present administration for its effort toward creating conducive working environment, training and re-trainning of manpower, as well as prompt payment of workers salary at and when due.
He said in all events the State Government pay salaries at 25th of every month despite the global economic challenges as a result of Covid-19, adding that, this is in addition to the payment of monthly pension to our retirees.
“It is important to mention here that, Jigawa State Government has implemented the N30,000 new national minimum wage as negotiated by the State Government and trade unions with effect from December, 2019 across the Civil Service” the Head of Service said.
He urged the Civil Servants to reciprocate the Government gesture by being law abiding, honest, hardworking and dedicated to their duties, the outcome of which will be beneficial not only to the Civil Servant but also to humanity in general.
