{"id":688,"date":"2022-10-28T10:05:50","date_gmt":"2022-10-28T10:05:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jigawastate.gov.ng\/news\/?p=688"},"modified":"2022-10-28T10:05:50","modified_gmt":"2022-10-28T10:05:50","slug":"deputy-governor-visits-flood-affected-areas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jigawastate.gov.ng\/news\/2022\/10\/28\/deputy-governor-visits-flood-affected-areas\/","title":{"rendered":"Deputy Governor Visits Flood Affected Areas"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Deputy Governor, Malam Umar Namadi has visited Kiyawa town to sympathize with flood victims in Tsangayawar Gabas, Nasarawa, Tsallakawa, Tsigi, Kanti and Jama\u2019are Road Quarters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He expressed shock over the incidence that displaced people and destroyed Kiyawa &#8211; Jama\u2019are Road and directed the Ministry of Works and Transport to intimate the Federal Ministry of Works on the urgent need to repair the damaged bridge in view of the importance of the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Deputy Governor directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to provide relief materials to the victims, while the Ministries of Health and Water Resources to ensure the provision of portable drinking water and health care services to the victims, adding that the Local Government should make proper arrangement for the resettlement of the victims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Chairman of Kiyawa Local Government Area, Alhaji Nasiru Ahmed and the District Head of Kiyawa Alhaji Adamu Aliyu Kiyawa (Dan-Masanin Dutse) were among those that received the Deputy Governor and led the entourage to the affected areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similarly, the Deputy Governor visited Jahun town to sympathize with victims affected by flood in Tsallakawaa and Tsigi quarters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking at the District Head&#8217;s palace, Mallam Umar said he was in the palace to commiserate with the District Head and the people of the area on behalf of the State Government. He said flood disaster is a worldwide natural phenomenon and called on the victims to regard it as an act of God and assured them of the State Government support. He also directed the Chairman of the Local Government to compile the list of the victims for immediate assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier, the Chairman of the Local Government Area, Alhaji Ado Maiunguwa Aujara, commended the Deputy Governor over the visit and assured that the Local Government would compile the list of those affected by the flood for submission to the State Government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his vote of thanks, the District Head of Jahun Magaji Rafin Dutse, Alhaji Balareba Ahmed commended the State Government for the concern shown to the victims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Deputy Governor was accompanied during the visits by the Commissioner of Water Resources, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad Garba Hanun-Giwa, Special Assistant to the Governor on Urban Cities Development, Najib Falalu Tukur, that of Community Inclusion, Hamza Muhammad Hadejia and Directors from the Ministry of Works and Transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also visited by the Deputy Governor was Karnaya village, where flood displaced the entire people of the village. He expressed shock with what he saw and directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the Chairman of Dutse Local Government Council to make arrangements towards providing emergency relief to the victims. While the Ministries of Health and Water Resources were directed to provide mobile clinics and portable drinking water at Warwade village IDP camp were the victims will be resettled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Deputy Governor also visited and sympathized with the people of Gunka, Sankara and other towns and villages affected by the flood across the 27 Local Government Areas of the state.
