Namadi, FCA, considered major interventions to advance development and strengthen service delivery across the State.<\/p>\n<p>Highlights of the resolutions are presented below.<\/p>\n<p>1. GOVERNOR NAMADI ASSENTS TO THE AMENDED 2026 APPROPRIATION LAW<\/p>\n<p>Following its passage by the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Governor Umar A. Namadi, FCA, formally assented to the Amended 2026 State Appropriation Law, also known as the 2026 Supplementary Budget.<\/p>\n<p>The assent provides the legal framework to expand the State\u2019s fiscal capacity and accelerate development projects, economic interventions and grassroots development across all 27 Local Government Areas for the remainder of the 2026 fiscal year.<\/p>\n<p>The approved supplementary provisions comprise:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 State Government: An additional \u20a646,369,000,000.00, increasing the overall 2026 State Government budget from \u20a6901.841 billion to \u20a6948.210 billion.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Local Government Councils: A supplementary allocation of \u20a617,109,344,340.00 for the 27 Local Government Councils. The resolution states that this brings the overall 2026 Local Government budget from \u20a6228,848,892,051.00 to \u20a6305,958,236,391.00.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Namadi commended the leadership and members of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, led by the Rt. Hon. Speaker, Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, for their patriotism, diligent scrutiny and swift legislative action.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the collaboration between the Executive and Legislative arms reflects their shared commitment to delivering the administration\u2019s 12-Point Agenda. The increased budget provisions will fund priority projects and programmes, with implementation guided by strict fiscal discipline, transparency and accountability to ensure that citizens benefit directly at the grassroots.<\/p>\n<p>2. COUNCIL APPROVES \u20a67.465 BILLION FOR AGRICULTURAL MECHANISATION AND AN AGRI-HUB<\/p>\n<p>The Council approved the release of \u20a67,465,200,000.00 to settle outstanding payments for agricultural mechanisation equipment and establish an Agricultural Hub under the Federal Government\u2019s Renewed Hope National Agricultural Mechanisation Programme (RH-NAMP).<\/p>\n<p>The approved equipment comprises:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 100 units of 81 H.P. 4WD tractors<br \/>\n\u2022 100 units of disc harrows<br \/>\n\u2022 100 units of disc ploughs<br \/>\n\u2022 100 units of disc ridders<br \/>\n\u2022 100 units of tractor trailers<br \/>\n\u2022 100 units of trackers<\/p>\n<p>The equipment will improve farmers\u2019 access to mechanised land preparation and cultivation services, enhance operational efficiency, reduce reliance on labour-intensive farming methods and support increased agricultural production across the State.<\/p>\n<p>Establishment of an Agricultural Hub<\/p>\n<p>The Council also approved the establishment of an integrated Agricultural Hub (Agri-Hub) to support mechanised farming, agricultural input services, farmer training, equipment maintenance, produce aggregation and post-harvest activities.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed hub will comprise:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Administrative office\/building<br \/>\n\u2022 BOA Agency Banking Office<br \/>\n\u2022 Irrigation equipment and spare parts storage facility<br \/>\n\u2022 Security guardhouse<br \/>\n\u2022 Toilet facilities<br \/>\n\u2022 Agricultural input storage facility<br \/>\n\u2022 Aggregation warehouse<br \/>\n\u2022 Tractor car park<br \/>\n\u2022 Tractor service station<br \/>\n\u2022 Training facility<br \/>\n\u2022 Collection and sorting area<\/p>\n<p>The Agri-Hub will provide a central platform for agricultural mechanisation and related services, including the housing, servicing and maintenance of tractors and other equipment, alongside the storage and distribution of agricultural inputs and irrigation equipment.<\/p>\n<p>Its training facility will support farmers, tractor operators, agricultural service providers and other stakeholders with practical and technical training to improve their use of modern agricultural technologies.<\/p>\n<p>The aggregation warehouse and collection and sorting area will strengthen produce handling, storage and post-harvest management while facilitating access to markets. The BOA Agency Banking Office will also improve access to financial services for farmers and other agricultural value-chain participants.<\/p>\n<p>3. COUNCIL APPROVES \u20a6550.8 MILLION FOR SAMAMIYA PHC REVITALISATION AND CHILD NUTRITION<\/p>\n<p>The Council approved contracts totalling \u20a6550,800,113.30 for two healthcare and nutrition interventions:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Revitalisation of Samamiya Primary Health Centre: A full-scale upgrade of the facility in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area to improve infrastructure, expand healthcare access and strengthen maternal and child health services for surrounding communities.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Procurement of therapeutic food: The supply of 2,155 cartons of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) for immediate distribution to Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) centres across all 27 Local Government Areas.<\/p>\n<p>These interventions reinforce the administration\u2019s commitment to strengthening primary healthcare and tackling severe acute malnutrition among infants and vulnerable children, in line with its 12-Point Agenda for a healthy and prosperous Jigawa State.<\/p>\n<p>4. COUNCIL APPROVES \u20a6916.2 MILLION FOR ESSENTIAL DRUGS, MAMA KITS AND HEALTHCARE SUPPORT<\/p>\n<p>The Council approved contracts totalling \u20a6916,222,151.72 for a healthcare support package covering:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Supply of essential drugs to improve access to safe, affordable and high-quality medicines across State healthcare facilities.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Procurement of 15,455 Mama Kits for expectant mothers.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Furnishing of 48 Primary Health Centre midwifery quarters.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Procurement of 35 laptop computers to support primary healthcare digitalisation, strengthen health data reporting and improve record-keeping across administrative health centres.<\/p>\n<p>The package addresses medical supplies, maternal welfare, health workers\u2019 accommodation and digital technology, supporting the administration\u2019s commitment to an equitable, resilient and responsive primary healthcare system.<\/p>\n<p>5. COUNCIL APPROVES \u20a6526.9 MILLION FOR STUDENT HOSTELS AT THREE TECHNICAL COLLEGES<\/p>\n<p>The Council approved contracts totalling \u20a6526,995,895.29 for the construction of three student hostel blocks, with one block each at the Government Science Technical Colleges in:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Birnin Kudu<br \/>\n\u2022 Karkarna<br \/>\n\u2022 Ringim<\/p>\n<p>The projects will upgrade technical and vocational education infrastructure, improve student welfare and learning environments, and expand the colleges\u2019 capacity to accommodate young people undertaking science, technology and technical training.<\/p>\n<p>The approval advances the administration\u2019s Educational Transformation Agenda, a core component of Governor Namadi\u2019s 12-Point Agenda focused on human capital development, technical skills acquisition and building a Greater Jigawa.<\/p>\n<p>The Council reaffirmed its commitment to revitalising public education at all levels and creating sustainable opportunities for the State\u2019s youth.<\/p>\n<p>6.
