Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi, has approved the reconstitution of a 10 – member Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy.<\/span><\/p>\n

This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of Jigawa State, Malam Bala Ibrahim.<\/p>\n

He explained that, the Council is to advise the Governor on the Prerogative of Mercy exercise as conferred on him by section 212 of the Nigerian Constitution.<\/p>\n

The SSG listed the reconstituted Council Membership as follows:<\/p>\n

1. Dr. Aisha Haruna – Chairperson<\/p>\n

2. Dr. Fatima Ibrahim Muhammad – Member<\/p>\n

3. Professor Nasiru Adamu Aliyu \u2013 Member<\/p>\n

4. Shehu Garba Sakwaya – Member<\/p>\n

5. Abdulkadir Musa Guza – Member<\/p>\n

6. Barrister Bello Adulkadir Fanini ( Hon. Attorney General – Member<\/p>\n

\n

7. Controller Correctional Service – Member<\/p>\n

8. Mairo Datti Birnin Kudu ( Senior Legal Officer) – Member<\/p>\n

9. Khalid Muhammad Hirin ( Director Social Welfare) \u2013 Member<\/p>\n

10. Salisu Ya\u2019u Taura ( Director Special Services) – Council Secretary<\/p>\n

He started that, the reconstitution of the Council by the His Excellency, Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi is in pursuant to the powers conferred on him by section 192 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 ( as amended) and section 3 (1) of the Advisory council on Prerogative of Mercy Law. Cap. A2, Laws of Jigawa State,<\/p>\n

\u00a02012<\/p>\n

Malam Bala Ibrahim said the reappointment of the Council Members is based on the remarkable achievements recorded during their last tenure as 546 amnesties were recorded within the last three years.<\/p>\n

While congratulating the appointees, the SSG said “it is hoped that, they would double their effort to justify the confidence reposed in them and put in their best towards the development of the State”.<\/p>\n

The statement added that, the reappointment takes immediate effect.<\/p>\n
