The organization bears the name: Jigawa State Agency for Mass Education. It was established by Jigawa State Law No. 6 of 2008 as a parastatal under the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. There are five (5) operational departments viz Planning Research and Statistics, Vocational and Women Education, Literacy, Administration and Finance and Continuing Education. The Agency has an Area Office in each of the twenty- seven (27) LGAs of the State. Its main function is to provide Mass Education Services to Jigawa State populace.
As an educational sector, it is saddled with the responsibility of eradicating illiteracy in all its ramifications from the State within the shortest possible period.

With an already necessary key staff on ground, a Sole Administrator was appointed in September 2008, a step further in having a firm structure for the Agency. Since its establishment to date, the Agency has been trying to actualize and realize the purposes for which it was established. The Government willingness and support in both financial and moral terms are numerous. Also Ministries, Parastatals, Non- governmental Agencies and Individuals have been making frantic efforts by partnering with the Agency to reduce illiteracy from the State.

It is our mission to provide Mass Education to all the deserving categories of our target beneficiaries (Adult men and women, drop out, and out of school boys and girls) as well as empower them towards the development of Jigawa State.

The Agency’s vision is to eradicate or reduce illiteracy from the State within the shortest possible time using the necessary resources at its disposal.
