The new Commissioner of Commerce and Industries who is a business man cum politician served as commissioner of Works and Transport in the state from 2001 to 2006.
Alhaji Aminu Sidi who is married with children had being an active politician from 1991 to date.

Na’annabi Ahmed, the Falakin Hadejia who is a1978 graduate of Education/Political Science graduate of Bayero University, Kano, holds an MSc. Political Science with specialization in political economy from the same university. The Falakin Hadejia started his western education in 1965 at Matsaro primary school, Hadejia from where he went to Birnin Kudu Secondary School and College of Advance Studies, Kano before proceeding to Bayero University.

The Jigawa State Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Cooperatives, & Tourism (MCICT) was amongst the first generation of MDAs that came into being with the creation of the state in September, 1991. It is the main MDA responsible for formulation and implementation of commercial and industrial policies of the state. Over the years it has played a leading role towards the achievement of the socio-economic objectives of the state government.
In pursuance of its mandates, the ministry has witnessed some institutional reforms that saw it collaborating with private sector and other stakeholders to expand its contribution to the state economy. The initiatives includes, the creation of the required statutory and administrative environment in the tourism and solid minerals sub-sector, improvement in the competitive environment, investment in infrastructure under the major markets modernization programme, development of the Maigatari Border Free Zone and development of Cooperative Society Groups spread across the state.
Structurally, the ministry is headed by a Commissioner as the political head and a Permanent Secretary as the administrative head. It has six departments namely Administration and Finance, Commerce and Industry. Others are Cooperatives, Tourism and Planning, Research and Statistics, each of which is headed by a Director.
In addition, the ministry coordinates and supervises the activities of the State Minerals Resource Development Agency, Jigawa State Investment and Properties Limited and the Jigawa State Hotels Limited.
